Spring is the season of flowers, of love and of allergies. The presence of pollen in the air causes millions of people to suffer from irritation and ocular congestion and respiratory tract, with greater or lesser severity.
The three main conditions that are accentuated with the appearance of spring pollen, are rhinitis allergic (which mainly affects the nostrils and throat), allergic conjunctivitis (which causes irritation in the eyes) and allergic asthma (which attacks the bronchi and makes breathing difficult). It is common for some people to suffer all three types of allergy at the same time, with the consequent decline in their quality of life.
Among the most common external allergens are pollen, spores and certain fungi, while inside the house , school or office, highlight dust and dust mites, mold, fiber remnants, animal hair.
Tips to avoid spring allergies:
-A good recommendation is that of decrease outdoor activities, preferably during 5-10 in the morning and from 7 to 10 at night. And when we go out to the street, put on sunglasses to protect our eyes.
-To avoid going out in those windy days when pollination is high, and when therefore the pollen concentration is greater.
windows closed at night, and use for example air conditioning with filters, and keep the windows of our vehicle closed.
-Clean the floors with water so that the moisture keeps the pollen on the ground and does not spread through the air , frequently clean the curtains and openings where outside air comes in, leave the windows closed when the wind blows towards the interior of the room and use the vacuum cleaner instead of brooms or dusters.
According to the professor and researcher of the University of Reading, Ann Walker, the latest research indicates that a diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3 could help alleviate the symptoms of these atopic conditions. In this sense, Ann Walker gives the following advice:
- Eat 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables a day to maintain a good level of antioxidants (green tea is also an excellent antioxidant).
- Achieve a balanced consumption of acid fats, reducing the consumption of sunflower oil and other seeds in favor of olive oil.
-Increase consumption of omega 3 fatty acids, eg tuna, sardine, salmon.
-Take probiotic foods (like yogurt)
-Consume foods with vitamin C, eg orange, lemon, kiwi.
-Consume foods rich in magnesium: nuts such as almonds and nuts, wheat germ, wheat bran, sesame, soy flour, brewer's yeast, oats, legumes and brown rice.
- Consume foods rich in vitamin B5 such as brewer's yeast, bran and wheat germ, cereals breakfast, salmon, legumes and nuts. [19659002] -The more you cry and runny, the more you must hydrate, as the allergy increases the loss of fluid.
